The crucian carp
is a freshwater fish and lives mostly in calm, dense grassy waters with muddy bottoms; it is extremely robust and can survive in icy pools or drained ponds with only a small amount of oxygen.
It can grow up to 3 kg in weight and 50 cm in length. An interesting fact is that it is closely related to the goldfish (lat. Carassius auratus).
